Carla Dake has created a wonderful whimsical birdhouse mosaic. She has featured my old Sweet Shoppe dinnerware in the birdhouse. The house is filled with fun surprises. It is absolutely adorable! You can see her process and how she did this here and more pictures of this on her flickr stream . Thanks Carla!!
Carla shared a little bit about herself and this fabulous creation .
I started making mosaics about 3 years ago. I saw some for sale on Ebay, and thought I could make some. I joined some mosaic groups on Ebay. Through the "chats," I was able to learn how to make them. I have always been somewhat artistic. Everyone in the mosaic groups are very helpful! One thing that we do in a couple of the groups is we have challenges.
I also have joined a couple mosaic groups on Etsy. We also have challenges. This one challenge we were to make a mosaic with a "Winged Creature!" I had this wonderful older fairy, I was saving for something special! That's when I also found some dishes that were designed by Sue Zipkin! It was like a light bulb went off in my head! That is how this fairy house came to be! I don't draw out any designs for my mosaics. I set my fairy on the table along with the dishes that Sue, designed and went from there! Everything just fell into place! It was voted "Best Out Of The Box Design!"
This is from the lady who bought the new house .
